Dr Rodger Spiller is a Certified Financial PlannerCM and Certified Responsible Investment Adviser. Operating on a fee-only basis, free of any conflicts of interest and supported by an excellent team and leading investment managers, Rodger works to help investors make money and make a difference. Rodger holds a PhD in business ethics, responsible investment and responsible business. He originally qualified as a Chartered Accountant then completed a Masters of Commerce (First Class Honours).
Rodger established Money Matters in 1990, after a career in accounting, lecturing and investment research. He won the inaugural Good Returns New Zealand Financial Planner of the Year Award and was a financial adviser in the TV One series Money Doctor. He is a former Member of the Securities Commission (now the Financial Markets Authority), has served on the Nominating Committee for the New Zealand Superannuation Fund, as a Director of Transparency International (NZ), Oxfam (NZ) and for ten years as a Director of the Responsible Investment Association Australasia.
Rodger served as a Director and Chairman of the Association of Investment Advisers and Financial Planners (IAFP), the national professional association of advisers. Rodger was a member of the International Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Council and its Education and Public Awareness Committees. He worked with the International CFP Standards Board to bring the CFP professional certification to NZ.
Rodger is married to Dr Chellie Spiller, is passionate about helping individuals and organisations to make money and make a difference, and enjoys attending and presenting personal and professional leadership development courses and being with his family and friends.
