I have a law degree and so understand that at claim time all that matters is what is written in your contract between yourself and the insurer – Make sure that you are paying for something that works for you at the time of claim.

I had a Trauma insurance claim where the client was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The insurer original declined the claim – he had met the definition for the claim, but the claim assessor said that he also needed radical surgery (prostate removed) – I pointed out in the policy wording it said ‘or’ not ‘and’ – They apologised for the mistake and the claim was paid.
