Mortgage Lending for New Advisers Course
The Mortgage Lending for New Advisers Course is a three-day course which can be completed as part of working toward the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services.
This course is conjointly delivered between
Financial Advice New Zealand
and
Professional IQ College (PIQ
) to provide students with the training and assessment requirements of the NZQA accredited Residential Property Lending Strand of the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services, Level 5. The course content includes loan structures and best practice loan applications.
As well as attending the three-day Tutor led course, you will be required to complete four unit standard assessments to receive the Mortgage Advice Module 6 Certificate, within 3 months of completing the workshop.
The practical format prepares advisers for their regulatory requirements; how to work with lenders; meeting client needs and offers an overview of influences on lending and property values. The course also incorporates feedback from the industry and has received strong support from both adviser dealer groups and many lenders.

Getting accreditation
The course is an education requirement to become accredited with some of the lenders and some lenders also require advisers to belong to an aggregation group – it is best to discuss your situation with the lenders to understand your individual accreditation requirements.
Please note that the aggregation groups may also have their own requirements you must meet. Again, it is best to have a chat with the groups too. Find out what they offer and which one best fits you.
If you would like to discuss these requirements and your eligibility to join an aggregation group please contact Andrea Vandermade who will refer you to the appropriate person.
Course cancellation
The course will not go ahead if there is an insufficient number of enrolments. You will be notified of cancellation at least 5 working days prior to the course start date. A minimum of 5 working days notice is required to cancel your place on the course, otherwise, you will be charged a 25% cancellation fee.
